In the body

Traditionally associated with the upper abdomen and the body's digestive fire — the capacity to take things in and transform them.

In the heart and mind

Will, confidence, and the ability to act on your own behalf. Tradition places self-definition here.

How healers work with it

Breath practices that build warmth, work on boundaries, and sessions that rehearse saying what you mean.

What this centre represents

Modern wellness interpretation

Gland: Associated in modern chakra literature with the pancreas
Body: Spoken of in relation to the stomach, liver and digestive fire
Tone: 528 Hz, used in contemporary sound practice

These correspondences are twentieth-century additions to the tradition, offered as reflection rather than as anatomy.

When it is over-expressed

Described as domination: control, perfectionism, anger that arrives faster than thought.

When it is under-expressed

Described as deferral — chronic people-pleasing, indecision, waiting for permission that never comes.

Working with this centre

I can act, and my judgement is worth trusting.

Breath

Kapālabhāti at a gentle pace, or simply a firm, complete exhale

Mudrā

Rudra mudrā — thumb, index and ring fingertips joined

Āsana

Navāsana (Boat) · Dhanurāsana (Bow) · Vīrabhadrāsana III (Warrior III)

Crystals & oils

Citrine · Tiger's eye · Yellow jasper — Lemon · Ginger · Roman chamomile

The energy centres are a contemplative map from Indian tradition, not a medical description of the body. Practices here complement medical and mental-health care and never replace it.
