Volume

In the body

Traditionally associated with the space between the eyebrows and the quality of attention itself.

In the heart and mind

Insight, discernment, and the difference between intuition and anxiety wearing its clothes.

How healers work with it

Stillness practice, trāṭaka and gazing work, and sessions that slow the mind enough for it to be heard.

What this centre represents

Modern wellness interpretation

Gland: Associated in modern chakra literature with the pituitary
Body: Spoken of in relation to the eyes, the brow, and the faculty of attention
Tone: 852 Hz, used in contemporary sound practice

These correspondences are twentieth-century additions to the tradition, offered as reflection rather than as anatomy.

When it is over-expressed

Described as living in the head: rumination, prophecy mistaken for planning, dissociation from the body.

When it is under-expressed

Described as fog — mistrusting your own read of a situation, deferring entirely to others' certainty.

Working with this centre

I can trust what I notice, and check it honestly.

Breath

Nāḍī śodhana — alternate nostril breathing, unhurried

Mudrā

Jñāna mudrā — thumb and index fingertips joined, hands on the knees

Āsana

Bālāsana with brow to the mat · Supported forward fold · Seated stillness

Crystals & oils

Amethyst · Sodalite · Labradorite — Clary sage · Juniper · Vetiver

The energy centres are a contemplative map from Indian tradition, not a medical description of the body. Practices here complement medical and mental-health care and never replace it.
