सहस्रार

Sahasrāra

The thousand-petalled lotus of the tantric texts — the destination of kuṇḍalinī's ascent, and traditionally approached last.

Traditional location: Just above the crown of the head — not inside the skull
Seed sound: ॐOM

Volume

Lineages differ here. Many teach the crown as silence — the centre beyond sound — while others give it ॐ. Both are offered honestly rather than picking one and calling it the tradition.

In the body

Traditionally described as resting just above the head rather than within the body — the point where the individual is said to meet what is larger.

In the heart and mind

Meaning, perspective, and the relief of being part of something you did not have to invent.

How healers work with it

Silence, meditation without technique, and sessions that ask nothing of you at all.

What this centre represents

Modern wellness interpretation

Gland: Associated in modern chakra literature with the pineal
Body: Spoken of in relation to the crown of the head and the nervous system as a whole
Tone: 963 Hz, used in contemporary sound practice

These correspondences are twentieth-century additions to the tradition, offered as reflection rather than as anatomy.

When it is over-expressed

Described as ungroundedness: spiritual bypassing, disconnection from ordinary life and its obligations.

When it is under-expressed

Described as flatness of meaning — cynicism, a life that works and still feels hollow.

Working with this centre

I am part of something larger, and I do not have to understand it.

Breath

No technique. Watch the breath arrive without arranging it.

Mudrā

Sahasrāra mudrā — hands above the head, fingertips together, opening upward

Āsana

Śavāsana (Corpse) · Śīrṣāsana where practised safely · Seated meditation

Crystals & oils

Clear quartz · Selenite · Amethyst — Frankincense · Lotus · Lavender

The energy centres are a contemplative map from Indian tradition, not a medical description of the body. Practices here complement medical and mental-health care and never replace it.
